Shawna Banville is currently qualifying as an Art-Psychotherapist. Also referred to as Art-Therapy, this practice combines the creative process and psychotherapy, to facilitate self exploration and understanding. Using imagery, colour and personal expression as part of this exploration and therapeutic process, thoughts and feelings can be expressed that might otherwise be difficult to articulate. Art Therapy is for all ages! and no artistic experience is necessary!
Art Therapy can be beneficial for a variety of challenges including but not limited to: anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, communication, developmental and cognitive disabilities, ADHD/ADD, Autism, separation/divorce, grief and loss, identity, life transitions, and challenges faced by 2SLGBTQ++ individuals.
Shawna works from a Client Centred and Trauma Informed Relational framework encompassing a variety of modalities and approaches to Therapy (Phenomenological Art Psychotherapy, DBT, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, Psychoeducation, Body Oriented Therapy informed, Attachment Theory and Compassionate Inquiry Informed).
