A meld of many different influences; Spanish classical & flamenco, Euro-jazz, Blues, American jazz, concerto, fugues, classical Urdu Indian ”ragas” and even The Beatles . . . this is fusion, in the truest sense of the word !
BIO — Gary trained with classical and Flamenco Maestroes Patricio Galindo Sanchez and Juan Fenollosa in Valencia, Spain before returning to Hamilton where he performed as a concert musician, taught, gathered local artists and activists via McMaster Radio to promote interdisciplinary artistic collaborations. He has been creating arts venues for many years; achieving many cultural arts awards along the way(Best Classical Musician 1981, Hamilton LifeTime Achievement Award 2008); Artisitic DirectorThe Pearl Company;creating international ensembles everywhere.
He is musical artist as well as playwright, poet, actor and production genius – his latest theatrical event being ”The Sacrifice Zone” – a one-man show in two parts which masterfully juxtaposed Odysseus and a modern day urban street crime scenario. . . VERY creative and provocative work!
Also, Gary’s passion for tapas – small Spanish-influenced offerings of Mediterranean specialties – is morphing into intimate, catered get-togethers by GUSTOSO EVENTS . . . like this event on May 25th.
